Today we had a special Maori welcome (Mihi Whakatau) in the hall for the visiting German students and the "new" new entrants. The Kapa Haka group did a haka to call us into the hall. Mr Richardson spoke and the school sang to us. Then one of the visiting teachers spoke and we sang to the school. Finally we shook hands. We are all part of ACS officially now!
Today we also finished our Sun Safety instructions and published them inside a sun hat. We also made a Pic Collage on the iPad about wearing our sun hats.
Today we made black paper pictures drawing lines and shapes in groups. Then we tried making lines on a grid paper - a different line/shape in each one. They are up on the Discovery Room bi-fold doors.
We were really proud of Eli, Jocelyn, Joehan and Josh who recited their poems in front of the Junior School this morning. They could "stand and be confident."
Today we went to the back field to practise our high jump for the Junior Athletics Sports. It was tricky learning which leg to jump with. First we tried jumping on the mat without the bar. Some of us are a bit scared of the bar!
Last week we also made jelly. We wrote the instructions for making jelly and learnt a Jelly Poem.
We liked eating the jelly the best!!!
This week we are going to make milo and then write the instructions for how to make it.
